The Backus Lab Welcome

The Backus Lab seeks (1) to understand why things look the way they do and (2) to apply this knowledge clinically. Our primary focus is binocular vision, especially stereoscopic depth perception, and we have recently started work on amblyopia and strabismus. We use cue recruitment and other perceptual learning methods in humans to study how visual perception is modified by visual experience.

Project LUMA is now recruiting!

Project LUMA (Light-deprivation Utilized to Mitigate Amblyopia) is an NIH funded research study in the Backus lab investigating the effects of darkness on adult amblyopia therapy. The study is seeking adult participants in the New York Metropolitan area. To learn more and apply, go to the Project LUMA website.
